SECURITY LEVEL: Staff Secure Community-Based Design

Athena’s Circle of Providence is a three story Victorian home that accommodates  girls that have been referred by the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF). Athena’s Circle is a staff secure residential program. We serve females, ages 11-17, who are challenged by mental health and trauma issues and have demonstrated difficulty in managing their behaviors. Referrals to Athena’s Circle typically have had prior psychiatric hospitalizations and difficulties in safely managing their behavior in previous residential, group home or home placements. Additionally, girls are accepted into the program as an alternative to campus-based residential treatment. The expectation is that the services provided will foster skill development that will prepare these girls for a return to a community-based placement, preferably home, foster care, or independent living. The length of stay is predicated on the girl’s identified treatment needs, and their level of progress within the program.
